Dar-whinge?

We hate omens.....but we are hoping the start of the trip was a one-off. Whilst the trip up to Darwin was smooth as silk, a little cherub, two rows behind us, insisted on sharing his discomfort on descent with the other 200 passengers. Screaming at the top of his lungs at full volume for 30 minutes makes us wonder why airlines aren't equipped with ether or something similar. Even with noise cancelling headphones, it was excruciating!

After our arrival in Darwin, we picked up our hire car and proceeded to the backpackers we had decided to stay at on Mitchell Street. Unfortunately, our room key was not available and at 2.30am, we were not the happiest campers in town. The staff sorted us into a 'spare' room (read cupboard) for the night and hopefully we will be sorted for tonight's accommodations.

We are off on a bit of a sightseeing trek today followed by foody delights at Mindil Markets tonight. We hope today fairs better than yesterday.

On a positive note, the weather in Darwin is outstanding. It's nice to wake up to warm weather in the middle of winter!

Hmmmm.... Vietnam can't come quick enough.
